Here at Oasis Counselling Centre we believe in prevention rather than cure if possible, which is why we run courses on Sexual Health & Relationships and Money Management.

Money ManagementMoney

Mike ButlerOasis provides a free basic four session money management course for sixth formers, college students and interested groups. Uninformed choices on money matters can have significant impact on relationships and also lead to uncontrollable debt. The course will equip people to make informed decisions.

RelationshipsSex and Relationship Education

Oasis Schools' work conducts Sex and Relationship Education sessions in 8 or 9 schools in Dartford and Gravesend .  Our aim is to help young people consider the choices and risks that they face in a sexual relationship.  We look at issues such as peer and media pressure, self esteem, teenage pregnancy, STIs and delaying sex and use interactive and multi-media methods of presentation.  When available we use volunteers to talk to students about their experience of these issues.

Jane GregoryTeacher evaluations include comments such as “excellent presentation, good pitch, good materials/resources.  Lovely relationship with the group”.  Students have commented “it made me respect virginity and helped me understand it is OK to wait” and “it made me think before jumping in feet first”.

Counsellor in Schools

Ann ThompsonWe also have a qualified, experienced counsellor working in a Secondary School, the work there is much appreciated.  Children today are suffering from family break down, bereavement, stress, depression, anger management problems, self-harming, eating disorders and more.  There is a great demand for help among the 11-16 year olds.

"The time that the Counsellor spent with our students has had a real impact on both their learning and their ability to cope with the specific issues you addressed - we look forward to working with you more"
